1. Product Overview
LC1D38BD is an authentic original 3-pole electromagnetic contactor from Schneider Electric’s classic TeSys Deca LC1D product range. It is configured with a 24V DC control coil and rated 38A under AC-3 load category, widely adopted for starting, stopping and switching three-phase asynchronous motors as well as various AC resistive and inductive loads in industrial automation equipment, machine tools, water pump stations, ventilation HVAC systems, conveyor machinery and low-voltage electrical control cabinets.
This contactor is equipped with three main normally open power contacts and fixed built-in 1NO+1NC auxiliary contacts. Under 400V AC power grid condition, it can drive three-phase motors with maximum power of 18.5kW. The built-in freewheeling diode inside the DC coil effectively absorbs induced voltage surges during coil power-off, protecting front-end PLC output modules and control circuit components from voltage impact. It supports standard 35mm DIN rail mounting and panel screw fixing modes, and can be freely assembled with thermal overload relays, auxiliary contact blocks, mechanical interlocks, time delay attachments and other TeSys series accessories to assemble complete direct-on-line motor starters or forward-reverse motor control systems. With stable performance, long service life and full global electrical certifications, it serves as a mainstream core control component for general industrial low-voltage power loops.
2. Main Functions
- Remote Automatic Motor & Load Switching Control
After applying 24V DC voltage to the electromagnetic coil, the internal electromagnet pulls the movable contact assembly downward to close the main circuit contacts for power supply connection; cutting off coil DC power will release the contacts to disconnect the main circuit. It realizes unattended remote start-stop control of three-phase motors, and switching functions for heating elements, fans, lighting loads and other electrical equipment.
- Operation Status Feedback via Auxiliary Contacts
The integrated 1 normally open and 1 normally closed auxiliary contacts act synchronously with main contacts. They transmit pull-in or release signals to programmable logic controllers, indicator lamps and electrical interlock circuits to achieve logic interlock and running state monitoring.
- Efficient Arc Extinguishing for Contact Protection
Each pole is fitted with an independent sealed arc extinguishing chamber. It rapidly cools, decomposes and extinguishes electric arcs generated during circuit breaking, preventing arc ablation and welding of silver alloy contacts, greatly extending the service life under frequent switching working conditions.
- Rich Expandable Accessory Compatibility
Multiple functional accessories can be installed on the top and side positions of the contactor, including time delay modules, additional auxiliary contact blocks, mechanical interlock devices and surge suppressors, to realize delayed switching, multi-channel signal feedback and forward-reverse rotation interlock control.
- DC Coil Anti-interference & Surge Suppression
The internal freewheeling diode eliminates back EMF generated when the DC coil is de-energized, avoiding damage to precision control devices in the preceding control circuit and improving the stability of automatic control systems.
- Finger-safe Indoor Protection Design
IP20 protection grade prevents operators from accidentally touching internal live conductive parts during routine inspection and maintenance inside electrical cabinets.
